Organization Description
ARES is the federation of higher education institutions in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (WBF), Belgium.
It brings together higher education stakeholders so that they can work together, in a participatory and federative approach, to identify the most appropriate solutions, those that best respond to the situations on the ground and the needs of the users: the student population, the teaching staff and the personnel.
As a partner in Belgian Development Cooperation, ARES supports partnerships between higher education institutions in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and their equivalent institutions in 29 partner countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
These partnerships for high-quality teaching and research are part of a cooperation programme aiming at tackling local and global development challenges and helping to meet the challenges of the 2030 agenda.
Reciprocal individual, collective and institutional capacity building is achieved through seven funding mechanisms, accessible through competitive calls.
On the international level, these mechanisms support the improvement of teaching and research activities, national and international networking, the promotion of fundamental values such as freedom, responsibility and solidarity, and the development of new knowledge.
