COLLECTIF TUBAKUNDE is an umbrella of 23 organizations and was created in 2005 with vision of contributing to eradication of all forms of discrimination against persons with intellectual disabilities and neuro developmental challenges. The mission is to advocate for promoting socio-economic status of persons with intellectual disability, political and legal, institutional and organizational capacity building of itself and its members and the promotion of sustainable human development.

COLLECTIF TUBAKUNDE objectives:

–To advocate for the rights and recognition of the participation of persons with intellectual disabilities and neuro developmental challenges within the Rwandan community and a greater commitment from public authorities for their daily inclusion in socio-economic programs.

-To reinforce and promote inclusive education for persons with intellectual disabilities and neuro developmental challenges.

-To enhance and promote inclusive health care services for persons with intellectual disabilities and neuro developmental challenges.

-To strengthen the capacity of youth self-advocates for conduct self-advocacy in education, health and social economic empowerment to improve the inclusive quality-based life standard of persons with intellectual disabilities and neuro developmental challenges;

COLLECTIF TUBAKUNDE is operating at national level. Through its members organizations, it extended its activities in 23 Districts over 30 Districts.

COLLECTIF TUBAKUNDE REALIZATIONS.

With its mission of advocating for the promotion of inclusive legal, political and social status of persons with intellectual disabilities and neuro developmental challenges and reinforce the capacity of parents and its member organizations. COLLECTIF TUBAKUNDE has been working with children and youth with intellectual disabilities from 2005. Realized activities are focused on improving standards of inclusive education, health care, economic empowerment for livelihood development and youth capacity building for self-advocacy.  It remains the only organization/umbrella of organizations working on intellectual disabilities and neuro developmental challenges in the whole country.

Collectif Tubakunde is member of NUDOR, UPHLS and COALITION Umwana ku isonga. That provides an opportunity for information sharing, capacity building and highlights the issues of persons with intellectual disabilities with the government and within disability spectrum.
