Gilead Giving in Africa 

Type of project:  Grant making in Africa focuses on HIV/AIDS and Viral HepatitisWithin these therapeutic areas, we provide support for a broad range of activities, including disease awareness; disease prevention; professional education; improving patient access to care; improving quality of care; increasing scientific capacity; strengthening healthcare systems. Across the continent, Gilead works with a number of local partners to help ensure that our medicines reach the people that need them. Our pioneering generic licensing agreements have played a central role in expanding access to high-quality, low-cost HIV treatment throughout Africa.

Location: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic (CAR), Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Pr., Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Eligibility: Tax exempt registration is required to be considered for funding, and if you are a non-profit organization, proof of status (e.g., a 501(c)(3) IRS letter in the U.S. or a tax certification letter (W8-BEN) if your organization is based outside the U.S.) is also required.

Grant size: There are no minimum or maximum request amounts. Applicants should request the level of funding that is required based on programmatic needs. Gilead generally does not provide grant support for indirect costs of an organization or activity.
