Organization Description

Mission of the organization: ROCAMH mission is to advocate and to work for promotion, treatment, care and prevention of mental disorders among youngsters in Rwanda through training, awareness, research and service development.

Vision of the organization: ROCAM’s vision is to enhance the mental health of Rwandan children and adolescents through comprehensive, compassionate, evidence-based, developmentally and culturally appropriate, accessible, and affordable services.

 

Objectives of the organization:1.To attract participants from a range of disciplines including education, health and social services and independent practitioners to work together for developing methods of ensuring there is adequate help and support early on (for children and adolescents).

  1. To offer the professional expertise in psychology, social work, mental health care for children and young people in Rwanda.
  2. To promote and disseminate evidence-based approaches to mental health care as well as supporting clinical staff and services working with infants, children, young people and their families through workshops, congresses, publications and other educational initiatives.
  3. To promote a community based comprehensive continuum of coordinated, integrated and seamless preventive interventions for children highly at risk for developing mental health problems.

Membership: ROCAMH recruits its members from a wide range of professionals with experience of working with children in public or private sectors, whose attributions are related to the promotion of children wellbeing. These can be psychologists, psychiatrists, educationists, pediatricians, nurses, social workers, etc.
